Community spirit: Paul Stark volunteers to map lakes to help YOU catch more fish!
Lewis and Clark have nothing on Paul Stark. Sure, the famous explorers mapped a fair share of South Dakota’s plains back in the day. Mad props to ‘em. But for the last few months, Stark has led a one-man Corps of Discovery to map lakes across The Rushmore State.
And he wants to share his fishing maps with you and all your fishing buddies. And with all their fishing buddies. And with … well, everyone.
“On an online forum I’m on, I ask other forum members what local lakes they would like to see mapped,” Stark explains. “I try to map all those lakes and then tell the forum readers that my maps of those lakes will be available soon on Insight Genesis Social Map. It stirs up some excitement when good maps are finally available for poorly mapped – or un-mapped – lakes in the area.”
It’s just that unselfish community spirit that makes Insight Genesis Social Map possible.
You won't believe how detailed this Insight Genesis fishing map is!
“You can automatically see the difference!” He exclaimed. “Look at those one-foot contours!”
Having fished Lake Gaston for years, Mike Smedley said thought he knew the North Carolina reservoir “like the back of my hand.” Then he saw the Insight Genesis custom contour map he made with sonar signals recorded with the GPS/chartplotter on his own boat.
“Absolutely incredible!” Smedley exclaimed. “I thought I knew the lake, and I’m finding that I didn’t know it quite as well as I thought I did. And that’s exciting to me. It’s almost like I’m getting a new lake in my backyard.”
Fishing today could lead to a fish-of-a-lifetime tomorrow
Insight Genesis empowers you to make and use custom lake maps from sonar logs recorded with the Lowrance, Simrad or B&G sonar unit already on your boat. To make your custom contour map, you don’t have to survey a lake all at once, driving back and forth and never wetting a line. Instead, you can simply record a sonar log every time you hit the water to fish. Over time, your uploads of data collected in multiple fishing trips will come together to form a master map, full of detailed, one-foot contour lines that identify fish-holding structure.
“Ever since I started using Insight Genesis, I’ve found a lot of good fishing spots on Lake Osakis that didn’t show up on other maps,” says Minnesota fishing guide Scott Merwin. “And I’ve been fishing Osakis for 15 years!”
Bait shop owner signs up for Insight Genesis, wins Lowrance HDS-7 Gen 2 Touch
Of all the new rods and reels, tackle and tools, gizmos and gadgets he saw last week at ICAST, the country’s largest sport-fishing convention, bait shop owner Chris Wenzel had only one thing on his mind as he flew home to Wisconsin – catching trophy smallmouth bass with Insight Genesis custom contour maps.
“I’ve been telling everybody about Insight Genesis – I told people at the airport about it on the way home!” says Wenzel, a smallmouth fanatic who has fished in both Bassmaster and FLW tournaments, along with numerous regional derbies. “My girlfriend said ‘Out of everything at ICAST, I can tell that Insight Genesis was the one thing you got really excited about.’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, that’s something I’ll actually use!”
