C-MAP GenesisNotice anything different?

Indeed, the Insight Genesis logo has changed. Its text now reads “C-MAP Genesis.” The new look and name highlights an ownership change.

In late 2016, Insight Genesis and other GoFree digital products then owned by Navico were transitioned into new ownership and combined with C-MAP to create a new product roadmap and vision for a world-class coastal and inland marine mapping under the C-MAP brand. GoFree customers can expect the same high-level of service and minimum disruption with this change.”

One of the first changes anglers and boaters will notice is the new logo and name displayed above. The custom lake-mapping service known previously as Insight Genesis will be called C-MAP Genesis, going forward. Feature development and support will continue operate out of the same Minneapolis office where Insight Genesis was invented.

“Digital solutions for the marine market are still in their infancy, with great potential to deliver powerful data-based products and services to consumers and companies,” says Greg Konig, formerly of Navico, who is now leading C-MAP’s product-management team. “C-MAP plans to be the leader in driving these innovations for years to come.”

Existing Insight Genesis subscribers should not experience any significant interruptions in service. Website addresses and social media platform names will, however, change in the weeks and months to come, including the name of this blog. Updates will continue to be published here on this blog, no matter the blog’s name.
Offering the world’s largest marine navigation digital chart database, C-MAP covers the world with accurate, up-to-date electronic charts, Value Added Data & Services that enable its customers to sail safely to distant horizons, fill their boats with fish, and cruise with confidence. C-MAP cartography is compatible with the latest navigation systems offered by the world’s top manufacturers.

C-MAP Insight Pro & HD

Lake-contour data contributed voluntarily by anglers and boaters in the Genesis user community and aggregated via Social Map will add value to C-MAP’s new U.S. map products, C-MAP Insight Pro and C-MAP Insight HD.

“Our goal has always been to offer the best chart value to our customers,” said C-MAP CEO Egil Aarstad. “We are leveraging the equity of Insight data and by combining it with our proven chart detail, popular navigation features and graphic presentation, we are changing the game for coastal and freshwater anglers across America.”

C-MAP Insight Pro will give both coastal and freshwater anglers powerful features designed to enhance their time on the water, including high-definition 1- to 3-foot depth contours for thousands of waterbodies, many enhanced with shaded depth contours that make it easy to pinpoint productive areas. Additional angler-specific features will include a custom color palette for highlighting user-defined depth ranges, state fish and wildlife regulations/fishing records and a wealth of Fishing Hot Spots® POIs and lake-specific fishing tips and techniques. Coastal anglers will appreciate C-MAP’s High Resolution Bathy (HRB) chart detail.

C-MAP Insight Pro charts will also provide boaters with many of the advanced navigation features popularized by C-MAP, including an extensive Harbor Charts and Ports Info database and Active Captain® crowd-sourced POIs. All this data and content will be available on a single SD card covering the contiguous United States.
C-MAP Insight HD will offer all the features and content of C-MAP Insight Pro, along with additional popular C-MAP features including Satellite Image Overlay and Aerial Imagery for enhanced situational awareness and a “bird’s eye” Perspective View chart presentation.

The new charts will be offered also as embedded, built-in cartography in Lowrance®, Simrad® and B&G® sonar/GPS units. Further development of the C-MAP Insight charts is planned for Raymarine and Furuno users in upcoming C-MAP 4D releases.

“We are very excited to now offer these products on Navico platforms and look forward to making them available to a broader OEM market this year,” Aarstad says.
